NO STRINGS ATTACHED

"I know what I said....because I was there when I said it" Kente said with the anger still in her voice.

Chris let the silence between them linger for a bit.
Even in anger,she was still witty.It was one of the things he liked about her,besides her beauty and sense of fashion.

But all that didn't seem to matter now.He thought as he stared into the ground between them.

She was starting to cry.
"...so..did it occur to you...that maybe...just maybe I might start having feelings for....you?"she said staring away from him.

"....but we agreed it was casual...no strings attached...we also agreed that in the event that either of us started a serious relationship,....this would end..."Chris responded.



Kente's eyes were still looking away  as if the very sight of him hurt her deeply.

"...It was your Idea for this to remain casual....you said you weren't ready for a commitment....you said...."

"I know what I said,Chris...I was there when I said it....!!!"She snapped at him.

Her sudden outburst caused him to retreat a few steps.
There was a lot of hurt in her eyes.

"...I mean...how can you be so heartless..?..so just like that,you'll dump me because you now have a 'serious girlfriend'....DO I LOOK LIKE I DON'T WANT TO GET MARRIED??"

Chris didn't respond.
Some how he knew nothing he would say would help.

"...Do you think that when a woman says 'no strings attached',she means it?.....FOR GOD SAKE CHRIS,WE'VE BEEN HAVING SEX FOR EIGHT MONTHS!!!She yelled at him.

Several people walking by stared at the clearly distraught woman and the silent man standing in front of her.

The night air was cold,but it seemed colder between the two of them.

"....I love you Chris....how could  you leave me for someone else??"
She started crying again.

Long pause as Chris helplessly watched her.
He opened his mouth to say something.

"...just leave...."She said in a tear-filled voice.
Chris stood there for a few more seconds.

He knew she meant it.He knew there was nothing more he could say....he had lost a friend and created an enemy.

He sighed heavily and walked to his car.
He took one more look at her.
"I'm sorry" Were the words he so desperately wanted to say.
But the words were stuck in his head.
He got into his car,and drove off.

 Kente watched his headlights disappear  down the road.

She sobs a bit more the turns to stare at us.

"Go on say it,
'Kente,what did you expect,you got the arrangement you asked for......you can't blame him.....Nonsense!!!

Can I control my feelings?can I help it if I fell for him? Is it my fault?no way.
Why couldn't he read between the lines?

Why are men so dense?I mean .....do you need a road map to let you know a woman wants you?

I gave him eight months.....EIGHT MONTHS of sex and he turns around to say he's found someone else?

So what if I initially wanted only sex.....I'm I not a human being?....don't I reserve the right to change my mind?

Mtcheeew!!! Next thing you know,he'll  be proposing to her.....and where does that leave me???.....alone ???.

I  know what you're all thinking.I signed up for it,so why am I complaining? But was It my fault that I fell for him?

Why should I be the one that's hurt?and how is he sure he can trust her, he barely even knows her.

These men eh? They will leave the one that loves and adores them and settle for the one they barely know.

Then when things go bad in marriage,they start cheating.
It's a Man's world my arse.

They don't deserve this world.They don't deserve a 'happily ever after'
Why?
Because men are pigs.
Imagine Chris.Leaving me for another woman?

Chai!

I have suffered.
So he thinks he'll just get away like that?No way.
I will ruin him.

I will destroy that relationship like he destroyed my heart.

Regardless of whatever "arrangement"we had in the beginning....he had no right to deny my love.
He owed It to me to love me back.

He will pay for his wickedness.
I will make the two of them weep.

How dare you Chris?
How dare you not love me back?

They will never know happiness in that relationship.
They will never know peace.

Chris must feel this pain I am feeling.
If its the last thing I do,I will have you Chris....mark my words.

Men should stop doing this to women.
No woman can  enter a 'no- strings attached' relationship without falling for the man.

Chris knew I would fall for him.....he led me on.
I am sure he knew.
That devil.
This isn't over........not by a longshot......
